This project I made with a 3D and 2D hybrid workflow.
On the right side you can see the different passes I did before painting over everything. Modeled in Blender from scracth.
Initial render
Flat local colors
Line drawing on top
For this one I also started with a 3D base modeled in Blender. My interested was in losing the ‘3D look’ and making it really seem like an impressionistic painting.
Sometimes it’s just fun to be calligraphic and push for a bold look.
I like to imagine a kid making funny sound effects when I look at this painting.
All about scale! This one for me was about making us feel small.
One of my aesthetic goals with painting is seeing how much I can leave unsaid while communicating all I want. Sometimes what’s not spoken says more than what is.
