One of my proudest achievements was the work I did as color supervisor for the second season of the Amazon Prime show ‘The Legend of Vox Machina’
It was a huge challenge because the setting is a deep sea dimension and story wise it is one of the main cast’s last and most important tests. For me it was really important to get a sense of awe while getting a real sense of being underwater. For this aspect of the episode my solution was downplaying the warms and diminishing them as we progressively get deeper and deeper underwater.
The second big challenge I had to tackle was the Kraken. She is the main antagonist for the episode and I had to find a way to show her mood changes to strenghten the story and show the stakes of what is happening. In the end I anded up simplifying the stages of the kraken fight and going for a very moody and intense red that broke up the deep blues of the deep sea color palette.
